Recipe: Lussebullar - Swedish saffron buns

It isn’t a proper Christmas without saffron buns or, as we say in Sweden, ’saffransbullar’ or 'lussebullar'.

Enjoy some Swedish saffron buns filled with vanilla custard to get you in the season’s spirit!

Inspired by a Zeina Mourtadas recipe.

Ingredients: (10 saffron buns)
The dough:
200 ml milk
2bags (1g) saffron
25g fresh yeast
1/4 tsp salt
200 g sugar
125 g quark (Not cottage cheese, as the video says).
150 g butter (at room temperature).
700-800g plain flour

Filling:
Vanilla Custard

Glaze:
1 egg
About 7g butter
Granulated Sugar
