This cat loaf is inspired by both hot cross buns and butter buns (牛油排包)
I used dry noodles for the whiskers (yes will need to pull them out before eating the buns lol), and use edible marker to draw the cat's face.
I will include my recipe below, but feel free to use other hot cross buns recipes that suit your situation!

My Recipe

Tangzhong (helps keep bread soft)
100milk +20g all purpose flour
cook on low heat until thicken like yogurt. let cool before use.

Dough
All Tangzhong above
270g bread flour
80g milk (reserve 10g depending on dough moisture)
1 egg
3g yeast
15g sugar (up to 50g*)
15g butter
4g salt

Egg wash (for brushing on the buns)
1 egg +13g sugar + 13g oil

Icing
20g all purpose flour + 30g water

This video shows step after fermentation, before baking.
Bake at 350F/175C for about 25min, closely watch at the last few minutes of baking because bread can brown very quickly, cover with tin foil if needed.

* I am not much of a sweet tooth and if I bake for friends I use 50g sugar.
For sweet dough (with a sugar content in excess of 5% of the total flour weight) you should consider using yeast that can withstand high sugar content, regular yeast may not work. For example, the gold version of LeSaffre Saf-Instant Yeast is suitable for sweet dough.
