Semolina Halwa:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup semolina
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup ghee or oil
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads (optional)
Instructions:
1. Heat ghee or oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
2. Add semolina and sauté until golden brown, stirring constantly.
3. Add water, sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron (if using).
4. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Simple Roti:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup ghee or oil
- 3/4 cup lukewarm water
Instructions:
1. Mix flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl.
2. Add ghee or oil and mix until the dough comes together.
3. Gradually add water and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
4. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
5. Divide into 6-8 portions and roll out each portion into a thin circle.
6. Cook on a hot griddle or tava for 1-2 minutes on each side, until puffed and lightly browned.
